Tehaina is a small M9iv star in the corner of the Yahehwe sector that, a few hundred years ago, Aslan scouts didn't think would amount to much. A quick survey, and back to base for lunch.

Boy, were they ever wrong.

They found the H'Hnaarouhw, a race who'd just colonised their own star system, and who were looking to expand outwards...

The H'Hnaarouhw were the first race to ever challenge the Aslan precept that the Aslan Honour System was the only true honour system.

The H'Hnaarouhwn system, though, is like the Aslan system with lethal attitude. You mess up, and they'll rip out your throat. No "Ifs", "Buts", or "Maybes", and no anaesthetic either.

Best you don't hack 'em off, then.

'Cause they're eight feet tall, have razor-sharp 4-inch canine teeth, and even sharper 6-inch claws on their hands and feet.

They like using 'em, too.

In around 440 IM (the Third Imperium year 440), the Aslan Heirate once again sent out scout ships to survey the worlds outside its borders. One such system listed for survey was Tehaina 2533 Yahehwe, a small system around an M9 vi star.

Since no radio transmissions were heard on initial arrival at the edge of the system, the scouts believed the system to be devoid of intelligent life.

Imagine their shock, shortly thereafter, on seeing approaching combat spaceships on their sensors as they ventured deeper into the system! That a violent confrontation did not ensure is a testament to the Honour Systems both races employ. To cut a long and involved story short, peaceful relations with both races was assured, and executed well. The benefits to the H'Hnaarouhwn people is immense, and cannot be under-estimated: In a generation, they had gained the means and ability to perform interstellar space flight; they had raised their technological levels at least three levels, and were well on the way to properly and more safely fully colonising their own system. They had improved their medical knowledge by many orders of magnitide, and the basic standard of living had improved by leaps and bounds for the average H'Hnaarouhwn citizen.

That they managed all this, and managed to keep hold of their innate sense of honour intact is nothing short of incredible. That they did all of this without going to war with the Aslan - a war they would surely have lost at the time - shows that their innate sense of racial self-preservation is inexorably linked to their sense of fair play and Honour system.

In the close to 700 years following First Contact with the aslan, the H'Hnaarouhw have expanded to six other neighbouring star systems, colonising each "properly" before moving on relentlessly to the next. In each case, no dominating Intelligent Life Form has been in evidence, and no conflicts arose as a result.

This is not, however, to say that the H'Hnaarouhw are incapable of waging war. They have suffered bloody wars of their own, and are well versed in anti-piracy operations within and without their own borders by less than honourable alien races; their starships are worthy combat vessels, and their ferociuousness even makes the Aslan, a race not noted for squeamishness, wince occasionally.

However, for all the innate honour, fighting ability, and pure-blodded aggresssion that the H'Hnaarouhw can present, they are also shrewd and canny traders; in the same 700 years, they have forged a trade empire that has stretched across eight full sectors - right into the hearts of many of the major and minor powers of the local stellar clusters, and have earnt a reputation as honest and generally successful business partners.

The fact that most who try to cheat one of these seven and a half feet tall, 250 kilo, razor-sharp claw equipped, bear-like creatures, winds up holding their throat and intestines in a bucket, is probably not something anyone forgets in a hurry, either...

System Overview

The M9vi star system of Tehaina is a rare one; it has no asteroid belts, its' oort cloud is practically non-existent, and all its' worlds have oxygen-based atmosperes.

Unusually for this class of star, all three worlds possess an atmosphere, although only Tehaina 1 Alpha is capable of sustaining life.

Known by the indigeonous race as "Hnaar", is a run of the mill high-wet world stuck smack dab in the habitable zone of Tehaina.
