Rampart's Primary Star:
Rampart prime is a fairly typical M3v Red Giant. While the visible light it projects throughout the system is more orange than red, and exceedingly dim, the infra-red light it shines is rather more powerful; as with most red giant star systems, what animate life forms there are on the few habitable planets and moons, have evolved eyes that see more light in the IR spectrum, than the 'visible light' spectrum.
For Humans within the system, it has meant that light amplification devices have to be used most of the time when out and about, or failing those, lamps projecting visible light (as fitted to most ground vehicles on 1 Alpha) so as to illuminate the way ahead.
